Earlier this month my good friend and co-conspirator on 'Dem Bon'z was having some electrical difficulties while running a load in Mississippi. He and his assistant driver pulled off the road to take care of the problem. Stoney was in that narrow space between the trailer and the tractor cab when another semi, traveling at roughly 75 mph left the highway and, rammed into Stoney's trailer. If Stoney had nine lives that one used up eight of them. The truck was pushed a great distance and Stoney was knocked unconscious. (It figures it takes 16 tons of truck to knock out a tough guy like Stoney.) Stoney wants all his readers to know that "I have a fine horse under me." Movie buffs will recognize that line as coming from a man who had just been buried up to the neck and left to perish (Movie-Jeremiah Johnson). With his usual calm demeanor (that's a joke) Stoney is putting up a bold front. His list of injuries included (but is not limited to) a concussion, broken ribs, broken scapula, and broken vertebrae. Stoney is now beginning the long healing process if Stoney lets him sit down for a bit. He's in a lot of pain as you might expect but he says he's "F.I.N.E." Those of us who have spent time with Stoney know that is code for another four letter word beginning with F. Get your friends to buy Stoney's books so he can afford all those fancy doctors who are messing with him.
Stoney hopes to be back in the tractor again soon. He is now working with me on 'Dem Dry Bon'z the sequel to 'Dem Bon'z. If you liked the first book, this one is going to be a barn-burner!
Get well Stoney!
